The Yabás Fair occupies the courtyard of CCBB RJ with a program that celebrates samba, culture and black gastronomy. The event brings together the traditional “aunts” of the North Zone, known for recipes that have become a reference in popular cuisine, as well as conversation wheels and musical performances throughout the afternoon.

Created by the Sambista Marquinhos de Oswaldo Cruz, the fair was born in the neighborhood of Oswaldo Cruz and consolidated as a space for valorizing the traditions of the suburb of Rio, gathering music, memory and flavors that are part of the history of samba.

Among the highlights of the program is the conversation circle mediated by journalist Bia Aparecida, who receives the carnival and teacher Milton Cunha. At the meeting, he promises to address topics such as the carnaval, the popular Brazilian festivals and the cultural traditions of Pará, its state of origin.

The musical programme is commanded by host Marquinhos de Oswaldo Cruz, who receives as special guest singer and composer Leci Brandão. Icon of samba, she goes on stage with hits like Zé do Caroço and The Things Mom taught me.

In addition to music, the public can try dishes prepared by cooks from the North Zone, who keep alive traditional recipes of Afro-Brazilian cuisine.
