Riotur deeply regrets the death of Ubirany Félix do Nascimento, Bira Presidente, at the age of 88, one of the greatest icons in samba history and popular culture in Rio.
Founder of Cacique de Ramos and one of the creators of the Fundo de Quintal group, Bira was the protagonist of a musical revolution that left the suburbs and won the world. With his tambourine and charisma, he helped transform samba into an even stronger symbol of Brazilian identity.
More than an artist, he was a real samba ambassador. His trajectory contributed directly to projecting Rio de Janeiro as a destination for unique cultural experiences, where music, rhythm and tradition attract visitors from Brazil and abroad.
We say goodbye with gratitude from a master. His legacy remains alive in the songs, on stage, on wheels and on the streets, enchanting those who live and visit Rio.
Samba thanks you. Rio thanks you.
