Tom Jobim International Airport, the Galeão, reaches the best mark in history

In 2026, more than 5.3 million travellers passed through Rio de Janeiro airports, a growth of 12.8% compared to 2025. The result is higher than the national average of 6.7% in the same period.
In 2026, more than 5.3 million travellers passed through Rio de Janeiro airports, a growth of 12.8% compared to 2025. The result is higher than the national average of 6.7% in the same period.
The protagonist was the Tom Jobim International Airport, the Galeão, which reaches the best mark of its history. In the first five months of the year, more than 4 million people were on domestic and international flights. Growth was 16.1% compared to last year.
Santos Dumont Airport also grew from 1.23 million passengers in 2025 to 1.27 million. The data are from the Ministry of Ports and Airports based on the indicators of the National Civil Aviation Agency (Anac).
It is the best result of Galeão since the beginning of the historical series in 2000, and reinforces the importance of the airport as an international hub.
