The Economist, one of the most prestigious publications in the world, published the latest report of the The Global Liveability Index and in this edition, Rio was highlighted as the brazilian city with best performance in the annual survey conducted by the british magazine. The study evaluated 173 cities worldwide based on criteria such as health, education, infrastructure, culture, environment and stability.
The capital of Rio de Janeiro obtained 70.9 points in this year's edition, recording an advance in relation to the previous edition, when it had added 70.2. According to the report, the increase of 0.7 points represents one of the largest growth among the municipalities analyzed in the period.
The index ranks cities with grades ranging from 1 to 100. The general score is disclosed without detailing the grades by category. The result of the research reinforces the potential of Rio de Janeiro as an attractive destination not only for visitors, but also as a city to live.
