Rio wins a new showhouse for the tourist, in an iconic space of Copacabana. The Roxy, an old street cinema founded in 1938, closed since 2021, was completely restored and transformed into a “dinner show” space, dinners followed by musical shows, in the molds of the great tango houses in Buenos Aires, or the Moulin Rouge, in Paris. “That embrace”, proposes to make an immersive journey for Brazilian cultural diversity, celebrating folklore, the stories and energy of our regions with a symphony of music, tastes, dance and emotion.
The evening begins with dinner prepared by chef Danilo Parah, who serves grilled cauliflower steak, accompanied by hummus of fried beans and chicken from Minas Gerais stuffed with taioba, served with cheese cream from Serra da Canastra, grilled okra and mashed potatoes, among other delicacies of Brazilian cuisine.
In the drink wing, vodka beat with tangerine and strawberry; cashew caipirinha with ginger and tequila with raspberry, ginger, hibiscus, lemon and pineapple.
On stage, the show created by artistic director Abel Gomes — responsible for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics in Rio and the last parties of réveillon on the edge of Copacabana — brings together 60 artists, among dancers, singers and musicians, in 21 scenes that have a little of Brazil, with 55 songs, which express the joy and Brazil, from north to south of the country. The show is about the Brazilian culture, which goes beyond half-naked passists. Rhythms and cultural manifestations of the five regions of the country, from the June festival to the oxen of Parintins, from maracatu to chula (gaucha dance), as well as personalities such as Carmen Miranda and João Gilberto.
