The wheel, which has been moving the neighborhood for years and brings together samba lovers from all over the city and tourists, now integrates the list of goods protected by the affective, artistic and social memory of Rio. Recognition values the role of the wheel as a space of cultural resistance, celebration of popular music and community coexistence.
Recognition is a symbolic gesture of respect and encouragement for the maintenance of samba wheels as a legitimate expression of popular culture, reinforcing the fundamental role of these meetings in the construction of Rio identity.
