The Prefeitura do Rio of January presented, this Friday (26/12), the Center for Operations and Resilience (COR-Rio), in the New City, the Operational Planning for the Réveillon Rio 2026 - The World's Greatest Turn. About 7,500 municipal agents of 11 organs will work to ensure the celebration of cariocas and tourists, with public order, transport operation, traffic surveillance, cleaning, social assistance, emergency care, reception and prevention of violence against women. In addition, 700 cameras will monitor the public at the events, 307 of them only at Copacabana, where more than 2.5 million people are expected, including 14 new superzoom equipment to help with security.
The estimated economic movement for the turn 2025 / 2026 is R$ 3.34 billion, according to the publication “Réveillon in Data”, elaborated by the Municipal Secretariat of Economic Development (SMDE), Fundação João Goulart and Riotur. In addition, the expected public for Copacabana – 2.5 million people – is higher than the population of 22 capitals in the country, and is higher than 99.9% of Brazilian municipalities.
Mobility
The main way to access Copacabana will be through public transportation, including subway, trains and buses, which will have special schemes to meet passengers. It is worth noting that several streets will also have special traffic operating scheme of CET-Rio with the implementation of blocking and signalling points to ensure the road safety of the public in the neighborhoods of Copacabana, Leme, Botafogo, Flamengo, Ipanema and Leblon, in the South Zone.
Security
An advanced COR-Rio base will monitor 24 hours on Copacabana. There will be 200 operators from various bodies integrated into the Situation Room. Six drones are included in the special scheme. In addition, there will be a real-time update of information on weather forecast, traffic and transport on the official COR-Rio channels. A total of 78 military police towers will help monitor the public. The pedestrian access will have magazine points. The marketing of glass bottles by street vendors, the surrounding of public areas by sheds, the parking on the streets vetoed by CET-Rio, the loading and loading of goods after the specified time and the use of area larger than that already granted by kiosks is prohibited.
Gilberto Gil and João Gomes will do shows
In the program of the party organized by Riotur, a lot of music, art and culture on 13 stages spread throughout the city. There are several attractions, with shows by great Brazilian artists like Gilberto Gil, who will have the participation of Ney Matogrosso, in the Stage Rio, in front of the Copacabana Palace. In the same place, the night will feature the performance of the singer Belo, who will receive Alcione. João Gomes, next to Iza, will sing his hits In the Samba Amstel Stage, at the time of Rua República do Peru, in front of the Posto 6, the space will be for those who like samba in the foot. The Stage Banco do Brasil Leme is dedicated to gospel music in the programming of the Réveillon 2026 on a special night of celebration, faith and praise by the sea.
For the first time, Réveillon of Copacabana, for example, will have new visual dimensions in its structures, combining more technology and new designs. The burning of fires, in turn, promises to be historic: there will be 19 ferries distributed along the waterfront, almost twice the number used in 2024, and 12 minutes of pyrotechnic spectacle in the sky, the largest ever held in Rio. A show with 1,200 drones, in honor of the city, will be part of the show, with images synchronized to fireworks and accompanied by a special soundtrack, signed by DJ Alok.
In addition to Copacabana, the traditional fire burning will take place in other parts of Rio de Janeiro for those who want to enjoy the Réveillon in high astral: on the Flamengo (three ferries, 10 minutes long), on the Penha Church (8 minutes), on the West Park (6 minutes) and on the Realengo Park (6 minutes). And that's not all. The party will also feature 10 other stages: Realengo Park, Sepetiba, Pedra de Guaratiba, Parque Oeste, Penha, Madureira, Piscinão de Ramos, Flamengo, Ilha do Governador and Paquetá. All of them with shows and performances of samba schools.

METRON
MetroRio has set up a special operation for the Réveillon 2026 in Copacabana, which will be held from 19h from 31 to 5h from 1 January. During this period, the customer can only embark on the metro system using the boarding passport for the réveillon 2026 (QR Code and return bracelet). The sale of special subway tickets is made exclusively by the app or website of the dealership: https://www.metrorio.com.br/reveillon.
The novelty this year is the return bracelet, which will be delivered as soon as the customer validates the special ticket in the turnstiles on the way to the event, and which aims to speed up and improve the return shipping flow. The price of the subway passport for the Réveillon of Copacabana is R$ 15, which gives the right to return from the event.
Digital sales will be closed at 6 p.m. on the 31st or earlier if passports run out. MetroRio advises customers to plan to purchase boarding passports (QR Codes and return bracelet) in advance.
To go to the event at Copacabana Beach, customers will be able to choose five times: 19h; 20h; 21h; 22h; and 23. Customers will receive a QR Code that must be presented for boarding at the stations at the chosen time.
The purchase of digital tickets can be made via credit or pix in the MetroRio app or website. Each customer has a purchase limit of up to 10 units per transaction. The subway boarding passport will be valid only during the night of réveillon, without the possibility of refund or later use.
Board with Réveillon passport
After validation of the MetroRio passport in the ratchet, on the trip to Copacabana, the return bracelet will be delivered to the customer, which must be presented on the return. Post-event boarding takes place without fixed hours, only with the use of the special bracelet, valid from midnight until 5h of day 1o.
On the way, boarding passports will be accepted at all stations except Cardinal Arcoverde, which will only be landed until midnight. From midnight on, return bracelets will only be accepted at open stations for boarding. They are: Cardinal Arcoverde/Copacabana, Siqueira Campos/Copacabana, Cantagalo/Copacabana, General Osório/Ipanema and Ocean Garden/Barra da Tijuca.
Even if you do not use the QR Code on your way to and from the subway after midnight, you must remove the return bracelet, which should be done only at the stations Siqueira Campos/Copacabana, Cantagalo/Copacabana, General Osório/Ipanema, Jardim Oceânico/Barra da Tijuca and Maracanã, from 14h to 22h of day 31.
For round trip to the event, the dealership recommends that passengers prefer the Siqueira Campos/Copacabana station.
On the 31st, from 19h, the unit cards will not be accepted, prepaid, Giro, Riocard Mais and Jaé (Single Ticket and Vale-Transport) or payment by approach (NFC). In other words, these cards can only be used until 6.59 p.m. and will be valid again from 7 p.m. on January 1st, along with the reopening for shipments in the subway system, which on this day will operate on holiday time (from 7h to 23h).
More details about the operation of the subway
For the special operation of Réveillon of MetroRio, which reaches its 26th edition, the concessionaire will strengthen the staff of the metro system and will have flow advisors to provide information to the population. In addition, you will have support from the Military Police and permanent surveillance.
From midnight until 5h January 1st, only Cardinal Arcoverde/Copacabana, Siqueira Campos/Copacabana, Cantagalo/Copacabana, General Osório/Ipanema and Jardim Oceânico/Barra da Tijuca will remain open for boarding. The other stations will only work for landing.
On the holiday of January 1, the operation of the stations will be from 7am to 11pm, except for Praça Eleven, Sahara/President Vargas and Uruguayana/Centro, which will remain closed. These three stations will reopen at 5:00 on January 2nd.
On 31st and 1st, Line 2 trains will circulate between Pavuna and General Osório/Ipanema, and lines 1 and 4 will maintain the Uruguay-Oceanic Garden. The dealership reinforces that, for the safety of all, large volumes will not be allowed, above 25 litres. Fireworks, containers, bottles, boards or bicycles cannot be transported in the subway during the special operation of Réveillon.

PUBLIC ORDER
The Municipal Secretariat of Public Order (Seop) and the Municipal Guard (GM-Rio) have set up a special scheme to celebrate the Réveillon of 2025/2026, in Copacabana, and will have employment of 1,370 agents in the neighborhood in urban planning actions, traffic, besides promoting the orientation of cariocas and tourists who will accompany the burning of fires. The staff will act in shifts, from 6 am on 30 December until 1 January. Of the total number of agents, 471 will be exclusively employed in traffic monitoring and surveillance. In addition, the operation will have the support of 90 cars, between cars and motorcycles, as well as ten trailers. The teams will also work with a focus on the supervision of street vendors, especially to curb the sale of glass bottles, kiosks and beach tents.
Agents of the Urban Control Coordination, Undersecretary of Operations, Coordination of Integrated Territorial Actions, Rio + Safe and other Seop coordinators will be involved in the operation. As in previous editions, the Municipal Guard's Command and Mobile Control Center will be parked on Avenida Atlântica, corner with Rua República do Peru, with access to GM-Rio Operational Map that monitors in real time the location of each agent, giving more agility in flagrante and coercion of offenses. The operation will also include agents of the Dog Operations Group (GOC) working around the subway stations Siqueira Campos and Cardinal Arcoverde, in preventive patrol action and in support of the public. The operation will involve all GM-Rio special groups, also counting teams from Special Operations Groups (GOE) and Mobile Tactics (GTM), as well as the Motorcycle Guard Group (GGM).
The Special Traffic Group teams will implement and monitor the blocking points according to the planning made by CET-Rio. The municipal guards will also be responsible for the implementation of the blockades in the leisure area, supervision of the parking ban on Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana and the monitoring and monitoring of subway stations. Agents will also monitor strategic points to oversee chartered bus parking. To perform the traffic actions, teams will have the support of radio transmitters and smartphones for direct contact with COR-Rio, allowing immediate communication in emergency situations or in relation to signaling changes, prioritizing the flow and draining of the public at the end of the event. Two drones will also be used in the preventive actions of Seop and the Municipal Guard.
GM-Rio will also distribute identification bracelets to children who will participate in the event. The bracelets are made with waterproof and quite resistant material allowing their use in sea water. The distribution will be made by municipal guards who will be in the access barriers to Copacabana Beach and also on the edge. The action, which is already traditional in this period, is another tool to assist in the rapid identification of children if they are lost from those responsible.
CENTRAL OPERATIONS - 700 CAMERAS
All points of the city where there will be stages for the Réveillon 2026 will have COR-Rio monitoring. There will be about 700 cameras accompanying the movement at the parties organized by the City Hall. Only in Copacabana will be 307 equipment at the party site and in the main accesses to the neighborhood to monitor the arrival and exit of the public, the traffic blocks and support the surveillance actions of the region. There are 67 more devices than those used at the last turn of the year.
In addition to the expansion of the camera park, the Réveillon 2026 in Copacabana will have the modernization of the waterfront monitoring system - runways of Atlantic Avenue, boardwalk and sand strip. Six more superzoom equipment will be installed, which allow the image to be approximated by up to 15x, without loss of quality. With these, the number of long-range cameras on Copacabana Beach reaches 14. The devices visualize up to 300 meters from the camera positioning point, and can be remotely controlled by COR-Rio operators.
Advanced Color
An advanced COR-Rio base will be installed on the edge of Copacabana. Directly from a double container, equipped with screens, a team of 20 operators will carry out the exclusive monitoring of the neighborhood, executing the immediate activation of operational teams in case of emergencies. In all four drones will be used to accompany the movement on the three stages and in the accesses to the neighborhood.
More than 200 representatives from various departments and operating agencies of Prefeitura do Rio, state security agencies and public service concessionaires will be on call at COR-Rio headquarters in Cidade Nova, with an overview of the parties that will be held throughout the city. Operators will have direct contact with the organizers of the celebrations, which facilitates the displacement of emergency teams, in case of need.
Information for the citizen
Tourists and the general population can download the COR app. Rio to connect with the main information about the city: real-time traffic, weather forecast, interdictions, operational stages, heat levels, among others. In addition, more than 5,000 cameras from Prefeitura do Rio are available. The COR-Rio app is free of charge, available for Android and iOS in virtual app stores, and has English, Spanish, French and Chinese versions.
COR-Rio also has other communication channels to keep the population up to date. A 120m2 digital panel located on the corner of Avenida Nossa Senhora de Copacabana with Avenida Princesa Isabel, in Copacabana, will display newsletters with time-related public utility information in the city, as well as special traffic and transportation schemes for the Réveillon in the city.
Another 16,000 panels, approximately, will also display the service messages in public spaces such as buses, road terminals, airports, train stations, subway and VLT, bus shelters, clocks, totems and bicycle rental stations; and private locations such as shopping malls and commercial and residential buildings.
Through the profile @operationsrio on social networks (X, Instagram, Facebook, Threads and Bluesky), Cor.rio website and COR-Rio news channel at WhatsApp, the Operations Center will also make a special coverage of Réveillon in the city in real time, with teams on call for the turn of the year party.
HEALTH - Public will have structure with four medical stations
To support the public who will pass the Réveillon on the edge of Copacabana, the Municipal Health Department (SMS) will have a structure with four medical stations equipped and prepared to attend urgent and emergency cases. The units will operate from 5.30 p.m. on December 31 until 5 p.m. on January 1, 2026, for assistance to patients with emergency conditions, be it malaise, trauma, cuts, etc. In all there will be 230 health workers involved in the SMS operation at the biggest popular party of the year.
The posts will be located on Avenida Atlântica, at the time of Avenida Princesa Isabel, Praça do Lido, Rua República do Peru and Rua Siqueira Campos, and will be prepared with assistance resources for events with multiple victims. Each station will have physical area around 200 square meters, clinical beds and others with advanced support (with respirator, monitor, etc.) and hydration armchairs, as well as equipment, instruments and medicines for emergency care. In all, there will be 48 beds, eight of which are advanced support, and 50 hydration armchairs.
The care team will have 37 physicians, 27 nurses, 36 nursing technicians, as well as operational staff. Team of stretchers will be ready to assist those who need to move from the runway/sand to medical stations.
