The Prefeitura do Rio presented on Friday (25) the operational plan for the long awaited show of Lady Gaga, which will take place on May 3 (Saturday), in Copacabana Beach. The event is expected to attract about 1.6 million people. The party begins at 5:30 with DJ presentations and Lady Gaga's main show, scheduled to begin at 9:15 and lasts about two and a half hours. After the show, the animation continues with another DJ starting at 0:15.
Here is the operational scheme for the most anticipated event of the year:
Event Structure The stage will be set in front of the Copacabana Palace will have 16 sound towers, as well as areas for people with disabilities (PCDs). 550 sanitary cabins will be available, including accessible units.
Security The event will feature 78 surveillance towers and 150 metal detectors to ensure everyone's safety. The area will be monitored by the Rio Operations Center (COR), with 240 cameras and 4 drones. In addition, 1,310 security agents, supported by 111 vehicles, will be on patrol throughout the event.
Health For medical care, there will be three health centers spread throughout the event, with 36 beds, 6 of advanced support, 45 hydration armchairs and 30 mobile ICU ambulances.
Cleaning and Sustainability To keep the city clean, 1,630 garis will be on call, with 2,000 containers of 240 liters and 200 of 1,200 liters, in addition to 65 vehicles and 42 equipment.
Transit To ensure traffic flow, there will be 205 traffic operators, 85 vehicles and 31 message panels. The idea is to minimize the impacts on mobility and facilitate access to the event.
Transport Rio will have special transport operation on the day of the event, with BRT lines, VLT, subway and train running until dawn. The Botafogo Terminal will be the main boarding point, with lines for the South Zone, North Zone and Barra da Tijuca. In addition, the MetroRio will operate 24 hours at the stations of Copacabana, with Cardinal Arcoverde station open only for landing between 16h and 22h. The stations Siqueira Campos, Cantagalo and Cardinal Arcoverde will be open for boarding at dawn, with Siqueira Campos being the most suitable, for having more capacity.
For those on the train, SuperVia will have special departures, and for the BRT, the busiest lines will also have 24-hour operation. The VLT will operate continuously between 23h of day 3 and 5h of day 4, with intervals of 20 minutes.
Recommendations for the Public We recommend arriving early to take advantage of the structure and avoid setbacks. Ensure your transportation in advance, as public transport options will be quite busy. Use RioCard or Jaé to make your journey easier, and keep an eye out for special departure and landing times.
