The literature and the arts once again occupy one of the most emblematic neighborhoods of Rio with the arrival of the 18th edition of the Literary Festival of Santa Teresa (FLIST). The literature and the arts once again occupy one of the most emblematic neighborhoods of Rio with the arrival of the 18th edition of Santa Teresa Literary Party (FLIST). The event takes place on May 16th and 17th, bringing together a diverse program that connects books, culture and inclusion in the same space.
Accomplished at Centro Cultural Municipal Parque Glória Maria and at Teatro Ruth de Souza, FLIST 2026 will have activities on Saturday (16), from 9:30 to 19:00, and Sunday (17), from 10h to 18h. The initiative is promoted by the Anísio Teixeira Educational Center (CEAT), which invests in a plural programming to bring the public closer to contemporary artistic production.
Over the two days, the festival will feature more than 100 confirmed artists, who present themselves in different languages, such as literature, plastic arts, music, theatre, dance and crafts. The proposal is to transform space into a great meeting point between creators and public, with experiences that value cultural diversity.
The structure of the event also reflects this commitment. The public will find four bookstores, a Braille reading point, a tent dedicated to the children's public, as well as institutional spaces such as Fiocruz and INES. There will also be areas focused on crafts and gastronomy, expanding the experience beyond the books.
One of the highlights of this edition is the space “Equities”, designed to promote inclusion and representativeness. The environment brings together initiatives such as Oca Literária, Cantinho Afro-Brazilian/Black Proposal, Cantinho do Nordeste! and “Embrace the difference!”, with books, objects and mediations conducted by specialized professionals, encouraging dialogue and the exchange of knowledge.
Triple tribute
This year, CEAT pays tribute to the singer and composer John Bosco and writers Marcelo Rubens Paiva and Roseana Murray, celebrating trajectories that cross music, literature and the formation of readers. Activities can be checked in different environments of the Glória Maria Park, including the Ruth de Souza Theatre, with theatrical and musical presentations, as well as spaces such as the Palanque das Letras, the Main Gallery and the Literary Tunnel, which receive chats, tables, launches and storytelling.
With a free and multifaceted program, the Santa Teresa Literary Festival reinforces the role of the neighborhood as a cultural center of the city and invites the public to dive into a weekend of art, literature and meetings. The full schedule you find Here..
