An international survey published by IWG points Rio as one of the best cities in the world for the practice of workcation, travel modality that combines remote work and leisure. The state capital ranks 14th in the global ranking and second in Latin America in the fourth edition of Work from Anywhere Index. Rio is still the only Brazilian city on this year's list and has appeared regularly among the destinations evaluated by the survey.
The annual index classifies cities from different parts of the world from a number of criteria that help measure the conditions offered to those who work remotely during a trip. Among the aspects considered are climate, broadband internet speed, accommodation, transportation, gastronomy, culture and availability of flexible work spaces.
The result reinforces the potential of Rio as a destination for visitors who wish to reconcile the professional routine with leisure experiences. The combination of natural beauties, cultural attractions, gastronomy and entertainment options adds to the infrastructure needed for those who need to maintain work activities while traveling.
The advantages of workcation?
The workcation proposal also extends the possibility of staying visitors in the destination. With greater flexibility provided by remote work and hybrid model, it is possible to extend a trip and enjoy off-site periods to discover the main attractions of the city.
The survey also shows that destinations more prepared to receive this public need to offer more than tourist attractions. Connectivity, mobility, accommodation options and access to suitable work spaces have a key role in choosing a city, alongside elements that provide leisure experiences and quality of life.
In the world ranking, Bangkok ranks first, followed by Tokyo and Barcelona. The presence of Rio among the cities evaluated highlights the Rio capital in an international scenario in which tourism and remote work are increasingly connected, expanding the possibilities of experiencing the city beyond a traditional journey.
