In January, Grupo Belmonte will open a new gastronomic hub at the Touring Building, also known as the Touring Club of Brazil Maritime Terminal, next to the Museu do Amanhã, at Praça Mauá.
The space will have four food operations and a large event house focused on electronic music, with Brazilian and international DJs. The idea is to move the Center again and create another place for big events, similar to Riocentro, but right in the heart of the city.
The complex will work on three floors and overlooking Guanabara Bay. On the ground floor, Azumi, purchased by the Belmonte group last year, will be in the outside area facing the Bay, with black metal structure and glass walls. The Belmonte Bar will take over the main hall, where the original hydraulic floor of the old Touring Club is being restored.
On the second floor, the Italian restaurant Il Piccolo will repeat the concept of the unit of Ipanema. On the third, Acervo Gastrobar debuts with copyright drinks, music and a psychedelic red bathroom that promises to attract attention.
In addition, Touring will have an attachment dedicated to major events. The club, with over 900 m2, will be focused on electronic music and will have intense programming to include the address in the circuit of the city's major events, competing with more distant locations, such as Riocentro.
History of the Touring Building
Opened in 1926, the building is an icon of art deco architecture and sheltered for decades the Touring Club of Brazil, an institution that encouraged national tourism in the early twentieth century. After years closed, the space gains new use and vitality, contributing to the process of revitalization and valorization of the port region.
