On March 22, the traditional Yabá Fair returns to Praça da Pira, opposite the Banco do Brasil Cultural Center (CCBB Rio), for another special edition. The event celebrates the International Women's Month and promotes an animated hangover of Carnaval, gathering samba, gastronomy and popular culture.
The samba wheel will be commanded by Marquinhos de Oswaldo Cruz, creator of the fair, and will have the participation of great female voices, such as Nina Rosa, Lazir Sinval, Marina Iris, Cassiana Pérola Negra, Maryzelia and the iconic Tia Surica. To maintain tradition, the 16 Yabás – the "aunts" that name the fair – will prepare typical dishes loaded with ancestry and history.
In addition to music and cooking, the program includes a conversation wheel with the writer Conceição Evaristo, one of the most important voices in contemporary Brazilian literature. The event also offers a children's area and a small handicraft, ensuring fun for the whole family. The closure will be on account of the Cordão do Boitatá, which promises a vibrant procession through the streets of the Center.
Entrance to the Yabás Fair is free, but tickets must be withdrawn in advance at the CCBB ticket office or on the site, where you can also check the full schedule.
