A Copacabana Beach receives, on Sunday (02/08), the brazilian stage of Triathlon World Cup 2026 (World Triathlon Cup), one of the main international competitions of the sport. The event brings together 130 athletes from approximately 30 countries and also marks the celebrations for the 10 years of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Among the competitors are 19 Brazilians, who compete for male and female competitions in search of important points for the world ranking and the classification process for Los Angeles Games, which will take place in 2028.
The competition will be held in sprint format, with a route consisting of 750 meters of swimming, 20 kilometers of cycling and 5 kilometers of running. The start takes place in front of the Posto 6. Then, the athletes walk six laps on a cycling circuit mounted on Avenida Atlântica and finish the race with two laps running along the edge.
Created in 1991, the World Triathlon Cup is part of the official World Triathlon calendar and brings together, annually, short-range international stages in different countries. Each competition distributes points valid for the world ranking and for the Olympic classification, being one of the main access doors to the international circuit of the modality.
