After seasons in Salvador and São Paulo, Ploughed Torto – The Musical It begins its national tour with a season at the Riachuelo Theatre. The adaptation of Itamar Vieira Junior's best-seller is still in play until June 15, with 22 performances, always from Thursday to Sunday.
The montage brings to the stage a narrative set in the Bahian sertão, addressing themes such as work analogous to slavery, racism, dispute over land, religiosity and resistance. The theatrical adaptation is signed by Elísio Lopes Junior, in dialogue with the original work of Itamar Vieira Junior, both Bahians.
The cast features the singer and host Larissa Luz in the role of Bibiana, while Barbara Sut plays her sister, Belonisia. Lilian Valeska completes the trio as Donana, grandmother of the protagonists. The musical direction is by Jarbas Bittencourt, with novel compositions inspired by popular northeastern music.
According to the creators, the show proposes a deeply Brazilian scenic and sound experience, mixing lyricism and social criticism into a staging that celebrates the culture and resistance of the people of the sertão.
