On Friday, September 4th, the Flying Circus, on Lapa, receives Jamaican band Third World, one of the international references of reggae. The performance is part of the Reggae Classic Festival, which premieres in Rio de Janeiro with the group, known for mixing reggae with elements of soul, funk, jazz and classical music.
Graduated in Kingston, Jamaica in 1973, Third World played an important role in the internationalization and evolution of reggae. The band was created by classical musicians, including guitarist and cellist Stephen “Cat” Coore and keyboardist Michael “Ibo” Cooper.
With more than 20 studio albums and nine Grammy nominations, Third World brings together hits in the repertoire that passed through generations. Among the highlights are “96° In The Shade”, “Now That We’ve Found Love” and “Try Jah Love”, the latter written and produced by Stevie Wonder.
