The exhibition is a project by the photographer Pedro Vasquez of valorization of Rio de Janeiro, through the atmosphere of the Machadian universe. Although the city has undergone transformations since Machado's death in 1908, some points are highlighted in this selection of photographs, as they are the most significant of the work of the great Brazilian writer as: the Center with the port districts and the Lapa; the neighborhoods of the South Zone of the city as the Largo do Machado, Laranjeiras and Cosme Velho; and the cove of Botafogo and Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.
Through the photographs, the public will be able to know the city and at the same time a little of the stories of Machado de Assis, with fragments of text of his novels and tales. The show was part of the Machado de Assis Cycle, the first programming axis of the CCBB RJ, started on October 17, 1989.
