After a successful season at the João Caetano Theatre, where it was seen by more than 19,000 spectators, the show The Beloved arrives at the Clara Nunes Theatre, in the Shopping of Gávea, from March 21st.
The comedy, written by Dias Gomes, depicts the trajectory of Odorico Paraguaçu, a charismatic and cunning politician who seeks to be elected mayor of Sucupira, a fictional city in the interior of Bahia. His main goal in taking office is to inaugurate the first cemetery in the city, a work he believes is essential to conquer the sympathy of the population.
Starred by Diogo Vilela in the role of Odorico, the show rescues the work of one of the greatest Brazilian playwrights, bringing reflections on politics and society through humor. The play also explores the relationship between power and populism, in addition to the strategies used by politicians to conquer and maintain influence.
The plot, originally launched in 1962, remains current when addressing issues that still resonate in the Brazilian political scenario. According to the creators of the assembly, the play plays a fundamental role in presenting to the public a quality theater, accessible and critical, which invites reflection without giving up laughter.
With direction and production that reinforce the importance of the work of Dias Gomes, The Beloved It continues until April 27.
