The group Matriarcas do Samba, formed by Selma Candeia (daughter of Candeia), Nilcemar Nogueira (granddaughter of Cartola) and Vera de Jesus (granddaughter of Clementina de Jesus), will perform an unprecedented show in honor of the 90 years of Candeia at the Theatre Rival Petrobras, on August 23 (saturary). The show will bring classics of the composer, such as “I need to meet” and “Philosophy of samba”, as well as personal stories told by Selma. There will be special appearances by artists such as Tia Surica, Dorina, Leo Russo, Marcelinho Moreira and members of samba schools Portela, Rosa de Ouro and Lavapés Piratea Negro. The show will also include songs by Clementina de Jesus and Cartola, celebrating the coexistence and musical partnership between the three samba icons.
