Five decades after the historic tour of the Barbarian Candy, the legacy of Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil and Maria Bethânia will be celebrated on the stage of SESI Firjan At the center. On September 7, Brazil’s Independence Day holiday, the group The esoterics presents the show "Our Love to the Barbarian Sweets", a tribute that revisits one of the most striking chapters of Brazilian popular music through a contemporary reading.
Formed by Simone Mazzer, Veronica Bonfim, Guilherme Borges and Maíra, the quartet proposes a tribute that dialogues with the artistic legacy of the Barbarian Sweets. The show highlights the symbolic force of the tour held in 1976, when the four Bahian artists took to the stage a discourse of creative freedom, diversity and cultural affirmation in the period of the military dictatorship.
Throughout the presentation, songs that marked the trajectory of the group are accompanied by images and texts that contextualize the historical importance of that meeting. The proposal is to bring the public closer to the cultural relevance of Barbarian Sweets and reflect on topics that remain current, such as identity, resistance and freedom of expression.
