The National Meeting in Praise to Marys is a great public celebration of faith, strength and female ancestry in Afro-Brazilian traditions, especially in Umbanda and Candomblé. The event brings together women, devotees, religious leaders and sympathizers from all over Brazil to honor the spiritual entities known as “Marias” — such as Maria Padilha, Maria Mulambo, Maria Quitéria, among other doves that symbolize empowerment, courage and transformation.
In this edition, the meeting will also pay special tribute to Zé Pelintra and Maria Navalha, fundamental figures in the imaginary and popular faith, celebrating their strength, wisdom and protection to their devotees.
In addition, the event will pay tribute to personalities who stand out in the preservation, promotion and valorization of Afro-Brazilian culture and spirituality, strengthening the traditions, knowledge and memories of our people. The program includes moments of collective praise, cultural presentations, craft fair, social actions and conversation wheels — all under the Arcos da Lapa, one of the most symbolic postcards in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
