Forró National Day celebrates the anniversary of Luiz Gonzaga, one of the biggest Brazilian musicians, who would be 112 years old. Known as King of the Baião, he took the baião, the xaxado, the shoo and the forró to the whole country.
PROGRAMME:
- 15h – Reading excerpts from the book “The Adventures of Marcus Lucenna in the court of Luiz Gonzaga”
- 15:30 – Lecture on the importance of forró- Paulo Lima and Jadiel Guerra- Directors of Forum Matrizes do Forró
- 16h – Court of forers with waxing in the statue of Luiz Gonzaga
- 17h – Presentation of several trios of forró bands
- 17h30 – Presentation of the Forró Marinho Braz Dance Company
- 19h – Campal Mass in the Square of the Repentists
About São Cristóvão Fair:
The 700 stalls, distributed side by side, offer cariocas and tourists various typical Northeastern products, such as food, condiments and crafts. When the hunger strikes, it's time to taste the flavors of typical cuisine, such as Baião de Dois, Sarapatel or Carne de Sol with Aipim, offered in various restaurants at the fair. On the two stages of the pavilion, the music does not stop: forró, xote, baião and xaxado, among other rhythms, guarantee the fun all night on weekends.
