It is on display at the Vannucci Theatre at the Shopping Mall of Gávea, the show “The Moon Comes from Asia”, starring award-winning actor Chico Diaz. The montage, based on the novel by Walter Campos de Carvalho, invites the public to dive into a journey between lucidity and delirium, led by a narrator who alternates between multiple identities.
In the plot, the protagonist — who can be called Adilson, Leonildo, Ruy Barbo or Astrogildo — believes he is staying in a luxurious hotel. There, he spends his days writing his memories as a way to share his experience with the other "guests", in a clear metaphor for the world. Gradually, however, the scenario changes. The walls mark the passage of the stations and, between enigmatic visits and personal revelations, he discovers that the hotel is actually an asylum.
Divided into two parts, the piece follows first a “path of the self”, in which the character revisits memories and faces his own psychic fissures. He then goes to a “world tour”, where he encounters an even more chaotic reality: wars, inequality, migrations, voracious advertising and a global scenario of dehumanization.
