The Adolpho Bloch Theatre, in Gloria, receives on November 29th and 30th the show “Macacos”, monologue starring Clayton Birth that invites the public to reflect on the urgency of black life in Brazil. With performances on Saturday, at 8 p.m., and on Sunday, at 5 p.m., the montage sheds light on structural racism and the erasure of black ancestry in the country.
On the scene, only the actor and lipstick are enough to conduct a powerful narrative. The character, a black man in search of answers to the prejudice surrounding him, revisits episodes of Brazil’s history — from the colonial period to the present day — to understand how racism perpetuates itself in society.
ServiceTimetable: Saturday at 8:00. Sunday, 5:00.
