The show “Medeia” is on display at Teatro Firjan SESI Center, bringing a new approach to one of the most emblematic myths of antiquity. With the original dramaturgy of Diogo Liberano and direction of Paulo de Moraes, the montage proposes an unusual starting point: the story begins exactly where the classic versions end.
Inspired by the tragedies of Euripides and Seneca, the text interrupts the traditional outcome and keeps the characters face to face, forcing them to confront questions that remained open. On the scene, Carolina Pismel and Paulo Verlings bring Medea and Jason to life in a clash marked by tension, memory and revision of versions.
The montage bets on a staging that breaks with realism. At the heart of the proposal is the critical review of the myth. Traditionally remembered by the extreme act of killing their own children, Medea is presented from a more complex perspective, which questions simplified readings. The dramaturgy raises reflections on power, exclusion and narrative construction, by investigating why certain versions of history prevailed over time. The season continues until June 2.
