The montage starring Andréa Beltrão, indicated in three categories of the Shell Prize, dives into the diary of Mércia Albuquerque, a lawyer who dedicated himself to defending political prisoners during the years of lead in Brazil. Past, present and future are entangled in “Lady Storm”, a spectacle whose dramaturgy is part of the diaries of Pernambucana Mércia Albuquerque (1934-2003), about his performance in defense of hundreds of political prisoners in the Northeast, especially between 1973 and 1974, one of the hardest periods of the dictatorship.
In the plot written by Silvia Gomez and directed by Yara de Novaes, Andrea Beltrão interprets A., a woman who receives the diaries of Mercia and is impacted by the witness for the pursuit of justice — or at least the whereabouts of missing persons, from the supplications of desperate mothers — and with the narrative filled with violence and courage. Directed by Yara de Novaes, "Lady Storm" stands until April 27.
