American saxophonist Kamasi Washington performs in Flying Circus, on September 4 (Thursday). One of the most relevant names of current jazz, Kamasi is known for extrapolating the limits of style, incorporating soul, funk, hip hop and classical music in emotional compositions. The show marks his return to Rio after three years.
On the most recent album, "Fearless Movement" (May 2024), Kamasi features tracks with Andre 3000 and Thundercat, mixing hip hop and jazz with scratches, saxophones, grooves and distortions, reaffirming himself as a band leader and highlight of the new jazz.
