On Thursday (03/09), at 19h, the Cultural Space BNDES, in the Center, welcomes the group Jazz das Minas for the presentation of “Ayé Órun”, within the free programming of the project “Quintas no BNDES”. Commanded by pianist, singer and composer Ifátókí Maíra Freitas, the band formed exclusively by women presents a proposal that brings together jazz, Brazilian black music and references of the traditions of terreiro.
The repertoire combines compositions by Maíra Freitas and other artists with rereadings and references to names such as Nina Simone, Elza Soares, Ivone Lara and Alcione. The show also incorporates songs and points of Umbanda and Candomblé, in an approach defined by the group as “jazz de terreiro”.
The formation brings together Ifatókí Maíra Freitas (piano and voice), Monica Avila (sax and flute), Katia Preta (thrombone), Sara Leite (thrompet), Flavia Belchior (battery), Rapha Morret (percussion), Samara Libano (violon), Cris Ariel (guitar) and Paula Pardon (bass).
