Iemanjá Day at Arpoador is one of the most traditional and exciting celebrations of Rio's cultural calendar. This year's edition brings together centennial houses of Candomblé and Umbanda, as well as more than 450 artists linked to expressions such as Jongo, Samba, Afoxé and other manifestations of Afro-Brazilian culture.
Throughout the day, the public can experience a program marked by procession with offerings to the sea, musical presentations, religious rituals, gastronomy fair, fashion and crafts, as well as environmental preservation actions. The celebration invites everyone to dance, sing, pray and thank Yemen, in a meeting of faith, culture and ancestry by the sea.
This year, for happening on a Monday, the traditional procession with the offerings will be held in the afternoon. Check out the full schedule on: Iemanjá Day at Arpoador celebrates faith, culture and ancestry in Rio.
