FGV Art receives the exhibition I cried rivers: art of peoples originating in America. Curated by Glicéria Tupinambá and Paulo Herkenhoff, the project brings together works by indigenous artists from different Latin American territories and proposes a plural look at art, memory and ways of existence of the native peoples.
Eighth exhibition promoted by FGV Art since its inauguration in 2023, the exhibition presents paintings, photographs, sculptures, installations, objects, mantles, historical artifacts and audiovisual productions. The works establish connections between different languages and temporalities, expanding the debate on Latin American art from indigenous perspectives and their own systems of knowledge.
Among the artists present are Ailton Krenak, Claudia Andujar, Daiara Tukano, Denilson Baniwa, Jaider Esbell, Lygia Pape and Mestre Valentine, as well as other names that dialogue with contemporary territorial, institutional and epistemological issues. The show runs until September 20th.
ServiceTimetable: Tuesday to Friday, from 10h to 20h; Saturdays and Sundays, from 10h to 18h
Location: FGV Art
Address: Botafogo Beach, 186 – Botafogo
