The Golden Black Orchestra returns to Rio in late September with one of its most recent successes. On 27 and 28, the Great Room of the City of the Arts, in the Barra da Tijuca, receives Hilda Hurricane, the Opera, a show inspired by Roberto Drummond's novel, which gained national projection in the 1990s with the adaptation in television miniseries.
With original music by Tim Rescala, conductor Rodrigo Toffolo's regency and scene direction by Julliano Mendes, the montage premiered in 2024 and now continues on national tour. The production brings an unprecedented version to Hilda's story, a young man who decides to abandon his prestigious life to live in a hotel in the Bohemian zone of Belo Horizonte. Its trajectory intersects with that of Frei Malthus, a religious who is committed to transforming the reality of the region. The encounter between the two characters gives rise to a plot marked by ethical and religious dilemmas, countering desire and devotion, freedom and morality.
