Freely inspired by the homonymous book by Manoel Soares, the show “For My White Friend” arrives at the Adolpho Bloch Theatre, in Gloria, for a short season on November 14th and 15th, at 8:00 pm, and 16 November, 6:00. The montage proposes a deep reflection on structural racism and how it manifests itself in everyday life.
The plot starts from an episode in a school: an eight-year-old girl is called “smelling black” by a white colleague. From then on, a meeting between parents and teachers becomes an intense debate about social tensions, naturalized prejudices and the urgency of treating racism beyond the notion of “mero bullying”.
