O Festival TOCA performs its sixth edition on 25 and 26 September, in the Plaza Cardinal Câmara, next to the Arcos da Lapa. Integrating the programming of Rio’s first Art Week, the event will have free entry and brings together unpublished shows and presentations that have as their theme “O Brasil Africana”, with emphasis on a tribute to the composer, arranger, conductor and multi-instrumentalist Moacir Santos, who would be 100 years old in 2026.
On Friday (25/09), the program starts with DJTAMY and follows with the group Soul de Brasileiro, which features the show “SOU”, and the singer Larissa Luz, who launches the album “Dismonte” for the first time in Rio. On Saturday (26/09), DJ Julio Rodrigues opens the program, followed by the unpublished show of the Symphony Petrobras Orchestra in honor of Moacir Santos, with special participation of Fabiana Cozza and Marcos Sacramento. The evening ends with Hamilton of Holland Trio, which features the repertoire of “NEW”.
The tribute of the Symphony Petrobras Orchestra marks the first meeting of the formation with the work of Moacir Santos and brings together pieces of the album “Things”, as well as “Amphibious”, “Mother Iracema” and “Orpheus”, with arrangements by Gilson Santos, Jesse Sadoc and Itamar Assiere. The program also highlights different aspects of Brazilian music and Afro-Brazilian culture, through soul, jazz, samba, funk, choro, afrobeat and electronic music.
