After a successful season in São Paulo, the musical “Party at the Arraial, O Musical” arrives in Rio for a short season in Clara Nunes Theatre, the shopping mall of Gávea. Freely inspired by William Shakespeare's Dream of a Summer Night, the show is with sessions on Fridays at 8:00 p.m.; Saturdays at 5:30 p.m.; and Sundays at 4:00 p.m.
With the direction of Thereza Falcão, who also signs the text alongside Mariana Mesquita, the montage brings together 14 actors, singers and instrumentalists, including Claudia Ohana, Lorena Tucci, Cadu Libonati, Bernardo Mesquita and Erika Affonso. History transports Shakespeare's work to a small northeastern village, amid the traditions and imagination of the June festivals.
In the plot, the young Hermia and Lysander dream of getting married during the great night of the camp. However, unexpected events change the course of history and put the love of the two to the test. Between bonfires, gangs, songs and enchanted creatures of the forest, the characters face encounters, disagreements and different challenges until they discover the meaning of love. The montage combines romance, comedy and fantasy to present a Brazilian story inspired by one of the classics of world dramaturgy. The play is on until September 27th.
