The singer, composer and instrumentalist Enzo Belmonte performs at the Rival Petrobras Theatre on August 19, presenting his new project, “Meu axé”, a great homage to the deepest roots of the Brazilian people. Work unites religiosity and musicality, the sacred and the profane, bringing faith in ancestry and love for samba. Born and raised in Morro do Pinto, Enzo was praised, as a teenager, by the late Beth Carvalho as “a real samba player”. Today, at age 23, he is an interpreter of samba school A.R.E.S. Neighbouring Faladeira.
In the repertoire of the show are striking sambas by authors such as Arlindo Cruz, Almir Guineto, Xande de Pilares, Luiz Carlos da Vila and Zeca Pagodinho. Thus, “My axé” gathers songs for each orixá and its phalanges, such as Ogum, Oxóssi, Iemanjá, Oxum, Exu and Zé Pilintra.
