The centenary of Associate Journals, one of the largest communication conglomerates in Latin America, will be celebrated with the musical Chatô & Associate Diaries – 100 Years of Passion. On display at Teatro João Caetano, the production revisits the trajectory of Assis Chateaubriand and its impact on the Brazilian press.
The history of the show, with text by Fernando Morais and Eduardo Bakr and direction of Tadeu Aguiar, unfolds from the perspective of Fabiano, an unemployed journalist who, when finding the statue of Chateaubriand in Recife, is led by him to iconic moments of Brazilian communication. Among the milestones addressed are the creation of the journal Cruzeiro and the inauguration of TV Tupi, Brazil's first television station. The plot also explores the challenges of contemporary journalism through Fabiano's relationship with Juliana, his professional colleague.
The cast brings names like Stepan Nercessian in the role of Chatô, Claudio Lins as Fabiano and Patricia France playing Juliana. Sylvia Massari gives life to the tycoon's secretary, Janete. Other actors represent historical figures, such as Carmen Miranda, Hebe Camargo and Lolita Rodrigues. The soundtrack includes songs by Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa and Ivan Lins, with musical direction by Thalyson Rodrigues and supervision by Guto Graça Mello. The choreographies are signed by Carlinhos de Jesus, who for the first time develops a work for musical theater.
