The National Art Foundation has inaugurated the new headquarters of its Center for Documentation and Research (CEDOC), at the Center. To mark the opening, the space receives the exhibition “Occupação Grande Othelo”, dedicated to the trajectory of Grande Othelo, one of the most important names of the Brazilian arts.

To mark the opening, the space receives the exhibition “Occupação Grande Othelo”, dedicated to the trajectory of Grande Othelo, one of the most important names of the Brazilian arts.
The show originates from the artist's personal collection, incorporated into CEDOC in 2008. The exhibition is the result of a partnership with Itaú Cultural and now arrives in Rio as part of the celebrations for the actor's 110 years of birth.
With more than 160 items, the exhibition brings together documents, objects and records that draw an overview of the life and work of Grande Othelo, considered the first black artist to achieve great projection in Brazilian theater, radio, cinema and television.
The collection includes manuscripts, sheet music from the 1940s, scripts, letters, photographs, costumes, personal notebooks and historical documents, such as a contract with Rede Globo, dated 1967, as well as awards and tributes. The show is on display until September 30.
