The Cinema Show Africans arrive at CCBB RJ between September 10 and 16 with a free program dedicated to contemporary audiovisual of the African continent. In its ninth edition, the event brings together recent and new productions in Brazil, with sessions at Cinema I.
This year, the show presents a clipping focused on gender cinema, with films that transit through science fiction, comedy, musical, romance, adventure, horror and psychological thriller. The program also addresses topics such as urban transformations, family relations, mourning, politics and the use of Artificial Intelligence in cinema.
One of the highlights of the edition is the participation of filmmaker burkinabé Chloé Aïcha Boro, who will be at CCBB Rio on September 12, at 18h, for the exhibition of his first fiction feature film, “The Desvirtuous”, followed by conversation with the public. The film follows four women expelled from their village who form a community on the margins of society, combining humor, music and different cinematic genres.
The program also includes titles such as “The Fisherman”, Ghana’s fantastic comedy; “The Awakening of Anam”, Kenyan production that addresses mourning through supernatural elements; and “Crocodile”, thriller centered on family conflicts. The show also presents short films and works that discuss political, historical and social issues in countries such as Sudan and Senegal. The full schedule you can check here.
