Outeiro da Glória
A jewel of Brazilian colonial architecture, the Igreja da Glória was the scene of great events in the history of our country.
Considered one of the most expressive heritage of colonial and religious architecture, the Church of Our Lady of Gloria of Outeiro was declared a national monument in 1937 and in the following year, it was listed by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (IPHAN).The place is of historical importance for cariocas because in the past it was an strategic point taken from the French by Estácio de Sá, who, despite being successful in the battle died poisoned by an arrow.
