Church of Our Lady of Mercadores is the oldest and one of the most beautiful religious buildings of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Listed by the National Historical and Artistic Institute ( Iphan). The temple began to be designed in 1747 and there existed only an oratory, dedicated to Our Lady of Lapa, a meeting point of traders and merchants. Closed after a period, the church was returned to the public and recently had its altar restored so that cariocas and visitors alike may contemplate this work.
