Museum of Life
The central themes of this space are life as an object of knowledge, health as quality of life and man's intervention on life.
The Museum of Life, created on May 25, 1999, is a space for integration between science, culture and society, on the campus of Fiocruz, in Manguinhos, in the North Zone of the City of Rio de Janeiro. The objective is to inform and educate in science, health and technology in a playful and creative way, through exhibitions, interactive activities, multimedia, theater, video and laboratories. Linked to the Casa de Oswaldo Cruz, unit of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, the Museum reflects the culture, mission and social commitment of the institution.
The central themes of this space are life as an object of knowledge, health as quality of life and man's intervention on life. Moreover, because of its location in the middle of a large green area in a densely inhabited region, sheltering needy communities and a large number of public schools, it functions as a center for leisure, culture and education in Science and Health.
The Museum of Life also aims to provide the population with an understanding of the process and scientific progress and its impact on daily life, increasing their participation in issues related to Health and Science and Technology.
