Museum of Astronomy and Affin Sciences (MAST)
The Museum of Astronomy and Affin Sciences (MAST) presents the history of science and technology in Brazil.
The Museum of Astronomy and Affin Sciences (MAST) was created to absorb pieces of the National Observatory, which is on the same ground. Besides the technical reserve formed by these pieces that would be discarded in 1985, there are exhibitions planned mainly for children. On the ground floor, the permanent exhibition "Looking at Heaven, Measuring the Earth" gathers original and replicas objects to show the public some Geography, History and other sciences. A part of the site is focused on astronomy, with inflatable planetarium and observation of the sky. On the Mast campus is still the second largest meteorite that has ever fallen in Brazil and the flags of the bezels already used by astronomers of the Observatory, which today house mini-exposures.
