Marapendi Municipal Natural Park
In addition to contact with nature, the park promotes the environmental education of young people and children, through a permanent library and special actions.
With approximately 155 hectares of beautiful natural landscapes, Marappendi Park protects the native ecosystems of restinga and mangroves. The site was created in 1978 with the aim of becoming an outdoor recreation and leisure space, as well as an environment of environmental preservation. Among the species found in the region are centennial trees, such as jacarandás and pines of Paraná, and animals, such as the black toucan and the sloth. In the park is also the Reference Center in Environmental Education of Marapendi, created for the exchange of knowledge through socio-environmental activities. The center gathers science room with information about the fauna and flora of the region and maintains extensive cultural programming with exhibitions, craft workshops and film exhibition. The park extends along the coastal strip of Barra da Tijuca, between Avenida Sernambetiba and Avenida das Américas, from the alignment of Avenida General Felicíssimo Cardoso to Avenida Pedro Moura.
Attention! Before visiting the site, visit the official website and/or social networks of the tourist attraction to check times and box office.
