Founded in 1913 by Edmund Urich, a German immigrant, the restaurant is one of the great landmarks of German cuisine in Rio. Established at its current address since the 1950s, the site still preserves the charm and tradition that made it reference.
Founded in 1913 by Edmund Urich, a German immigrant, the restaurant is one of the great landmarks of German cuisine in Rio. Established at its current address since the 1950s, the site still preserves the charm and tradition that made it reference.
Under the command of the brothers Orlando and Marisa Oreiro for more than twenty years, the restaurant combines authentic German cuisine with touches of international cuisine. The welcoming and nostalgic environment keeps the original white tiles on the walls and waiters dressed the old-fashioned way, reinforcing the unique experience of a time travel.
In a casual and relaxed climate, the house serves typical German dishes with a Brazilian touch, accompanied by iced coffee and classic desserts, conquering generations of loyal customers.
More than a restaurant, it is a true piece of the city’s history — where tradition, taste, and culture meet at the table.
The restaurant was recognized as Cultural Heritage Carioca in 2015.
