Guinle Park
Green and quiet area close to Largo do Machado
Guinle Park was originally a farm purchased by Dr. Eduardo Guinle to build his residence.
Located in the Laranjeiras district, the park area constituted the palace gardens, erected in the 1920s, designed by the French landscaper Gérard Cochet. Today the mansion of the Guinle is known as the Palace of the Laranjeiras, the official residence of the governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
The Park located at the end of Rua Gago Coutinho, has entrance through a beautiful gate that gives access to an area of 24,750 m2 where you see a small lake, alleys, lawns, trees and tropical plants.
The set of apartment buildings to the right of the park were designed by Lúcio Costa, author of the urban project of Brasília. The whole set was awarded at the 1st Biennial of Arts of São Paulo in 1951 and have been down by IPHAN since 1986.
