Gentile Carioca
Gentil Carioca: for almost two decades celebrating art in the Center of Rio
Located in two restored houses in the Sahara region, the gallery is a great space to learn more about contemporary Brazilian art. It was created by artists Márcio Botner, Ernesto Neto and Laura Lima in order to think, produce, experience, celebrate and market art.
On the outside, between the two buildings that are part of the gallery, you will find the “Gentle Wall” which, in its 38th edition, gives the tribute of artist Denilson Baniwa to the indigenous activist Jaider Esbell. On the inside is the exhibition “Lua/Fight”, by Jarbas Lopes, where art and life are intertwined and everything seems to be built walking, talking, playing and breathing. The show is curated by Catherine Bompuis and continues until June 17.
