Foundry Progress
The Progress Foundry is a self-sustaining cultural center, showhouse and unique model school, where art is produced and exhibited for about 800,000 people annually.
Located in a historic building of an old iron object factory deactivated in the 1970s, the Foundry houses from large events of showbizz to traditional and renewed manifestations of the carnaval Rio. It goes from maracatu to cinema, passing the theatre, circus, design and classical music.
Intrepid Trupe, Warehouse Theatre, Theatre Anonymous, Video Foundry and Orchestra Petrobras Symphony are some of the cultural groups that inhabit the space daily, rehearsing, teaching and presenting their art.
The Funding became a reference for the Brazilian and Rio carnaval with the creation of the National Carnival Marchinhas Competition, which has already received more than 6,000 registrations over the last six years and moves around 30,000 people in their events every edition; and with the rehearsals of important carnival blocks at its headquarters, such as the Monobloco, the Maracatu River and Bangalafumenga.

Artists such as Maria Rita, Lenine, O Rappa, Jorge Ben Jor, The Paralames of Success, Natiruts, Skank, among other great artists and bands from various aspects of the music, are often featured in it.
