Empório

The Empório, in Ipanema, opened in the 80s and, since then, it is famous for being one of the most democratics places in the city, where different tribes meet, with only one purpose: to listen to the best rock. Regulars of long date tell that, even with passage of time, nothing has changed. The house gets full by midnight and goes late into the night. “Empório is unpredictable”, tells Ivan, the place’s manager. The bar is undergoing a revision of its programme, with the idea of further encourage independent songs and bands. On the second floor there is a stage for shows and DJs from Wednesdays to Saturdays. Performances happen weekly on the first floor, from Sundays to Thursdays, from 8:30pm, as the happy hour.
