The Choreographic Center of Rio de Janeiro, inaugurated in August 2004, became the first space dedicated exclusively to dance in Latin America. Installed in an old brewery topped by the Municipal Historic Heritage, in the Tijuca neighborhood, the equipment occupies about 4,000 square meters and went through a process of restoration and adaptation to house cultural activities.
The center aims to promote the creation, production, exchange, presentation, documentation, memory and diffusion of dance, focusing on the plurality and diversity of art. Its activities serve different audiences, including children, young people, adults, elderly people and people with disabilities, as well as artists, students, researchers and professionals in the sector.
Throughout its trajectory, the Rio Coreographic Center has been supporting local, national and international projects through presentations, artistic residences, exchanges and cultural partnerships, consolidating itself as an important pole of dance in the city.
