In the first half of the last century, the farm where the Casa de Artes Paquetá is located today was acquired by Ormy Toledo. In addition to promoting extensive landscape reforms on site, she was responsible for the new architectural gems built there.
Dona Ormy was a cultural entrepreneur and saw Paquetá as the Island of Arts, believing in a tourist project focused on artistic/musical events. The Chácara da Ormy was part of this project and there were great saraus with the main musicians of Brazil such as Pixinguinha, Orestes Barbosa, Lamartine Babo, Silvio Caldas and Radamés Gnatalli.
Originally designed for residence, space undergoes extensive restoration process. In May 1999 he began to promote recitals, saraus and informal exhibitions valuing local artists - in a way a tribute to the work begun by Ormy Toledo. From April 2001 the site is definitely transformed into Cultural Center, open to visitation and with permanent schedule of events.
*The visit to the Cultural Center is free, as well as the consultations to the Memory and Library Center.
