“Where is the block?”: Riotur launches the Rio 2026 Blocks application

One of the most frequent questions during the Carnaval of Rua do Rio already has an answer. To help revelries program and further enjoy the party, Riotur launched the 2026 Rio Blocks application, available free for download on major digital platforms.

The tool gathers, in one place, all information about the block parades around the city. With operation based on geolocation, the application allows you to locate nearby blocks, and perform searches by date, block name or by means of a search bar, facilitating navigation for both cariocas and tourists.

Another highlight is access to complete paths of the parades, resource that helps the folião to follow the block even after the beginning of the procession. The app also provides editorial contents and subjects in real time on the blocks, keeping the public always updated during the carnival period.

In 2026, Rio de Janeiro will have 460 block parades scattered by streets and squares of the city, being 35 opening blocks between days 17 January and 22 February, period in which the street Carnaval ends. They are planned 135 parades in the Center, 56 in the North Zone, 62 in the Great Tijuca, 46 in the West Zone, 35 in the Governor and Paquetá Islands, 12 in Jacarepaguá, 98 in the South Zone and 16 in the Barra da Tijuca, Recreio and Vargens.

The expectation is that 6 million people, between residents and visitors, participate in the Carnaval Street. To ensure a safe and organized party, the Riotur coordinates a megaoperation, with the support of various public agencies, following the same standard of success adopted at major events in the city, such as the Réveillon.
